Behavior Coach / Interventionist

Dare County Schools is seeking a Behavior Coach/Interventionist to administer and enforce school policies related to discipline and student attendance. This role involves overseeing student attendance and discipline records, establishing procedures for handling challenging students, and communicating with parents, teachers, and staff regarding policy infractions.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and enforce school policies related to discipline and student attendance.
• Oversee and supervise the management of student attendance and discipline records.
• Establish steps and procedures for handling challenging students, including restorative practices.
• Communicate with parents, teachers, and staff regarding infractions of the code of conduct or other policies.
• Assist faculty in organizing and planning campus-wide events and programs.
• Participate in creating and implementing the campus emergency evacuation and preparedness plan.
• Organize and facilitate academic intervention programs alongside the Multi-Tiered System of Support Team (MTSS).
• Mentor and counsel at-risk students and those needing additional support.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year degree.
• Valid North Carolina Professional Educator License or eligibility to obtain one.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interactions with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations promoting school programs.
• Analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of school programs and initiatives.
• Experience in creating and supporting social clubs and programs within a school setting.
• Experience investigating complaints and grievances involving instructors, staff, and students.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
