Mental Health Coach
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Coach to establish therapeutic relationships with pediatric mental health clients. This role involves modeling pro-social and positive coping skills, maintaining a safe treatment environment, and collaborating with patients and team members to ensure effective treatment experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based skills coaching and behavioral modification to pediatric patients with mental health diagnoses.
- Implement and reinforce strategies from patients' treatment or behavioral plans, and communicate any ineffective aspects to the team for review.
- Assist patients in developing and utilizing coping strategies.
- Maintain a collaborative and supportive approach to promote unit calmness.
- Apply de-escalation techniques and educate patients and families on their use.
- Monitor patients' emotional states and provide immediate support during crises.
- Ensure the treatment environment is organized, safe, and compliant with regulations.
- Process patient admissions efficiently and provide updates to guardians regarding patient progress.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience in mental health or behavioral health settings, preferably with pediatric populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to apply evidence-based interventions and de-escalation techniques.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
Work Schedule
- Monday to Friday.
- On-call availability as needed.
