Career Coach
The Horticultural Society of New York is seeking a dedicated Career Coach to empower trainees in our Public Space workforce development program. As a key member of the Human Resources team, you will equip participants with essential career skills, confidence, and industry knowledge to facilitate their transition into full-time employment upon completing the 8-month training program.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including employers and community organizations, to support clients' career pathways.
- Collaborate with local horticulture organizations and sustainable landscaping businesses to identify job placements and internship opportunities.
- Promote program services and participant achievements to partners and represent the organization in networking settings.
- Provide individualized career coaching, including assistance with cover letters, resumes, interview skills, and goal-setting.
- Develop and co-facilitate career workshops and training sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of referrals, placements, and client progress.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience in career coaching, workforce development, or a related area.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of the green industry or horticulture is a plus.
