Position Overview
We are seeking a Health and Wellbeing Coach to join our team. In this role, you will build relationships with members, guiding individuals of all fitness levels through YMCA programs to help them maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will create an encouraging and fun environment, treating every participant fairly and equally, regardless of circumstances and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Orientation: Deliver equipment orientations, teaching and demonstrating proper form and technique.
• Personalized Workouts: Assist members with personalized workout routines tailored to their fitness levels and goals.
• Safety Assurance: Ensure established safety guidelines are followed to maintain a safe environment for all participants.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree or two years of related knowledge and experience preferred.
• Fitness Knowledge: Understanding of basic health and fitness principles, exercise prescriptions, and strength training machines.
• Role Model: Ability to set an excellent example in health, fitness, and member service.
• Coaching Experience: Experience coaching and/or teaching group exercise classes preferred.
• Certifications:
  • YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification or equivalent (such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA) preferred.
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications preferred.

• Training Requirements: Ability to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day of employment and other required training as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

• Wage: $16.66 to $16.78 per hour, depending on qualifications.
• Hours: Part-Time, up to 25 hours per week.
• Location: Tacoma Center YMCA, Tacoma, WA.
