Family Support Coach

Penquis is a social services agency serving Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Knox counties for over 50 years, dedicated to supporting individuals and families in achieving economic stability and overall well-being.

Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Family Support Coach to join our Child Development Team in the Bangor area. In this role, you will collaborate with families to identify needs, strengths, and goals, providing intensive case management and support to promote family well-being, safety, health, and economic stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Case Management: Work directly with clients through intake and assessment, developing family plans, and providing follow-up via calls, home visits, and office visits.
• Family Engagement: Develop positive, trusting relationships with families through regular check-ins, supporting parents in both individual and group settings.
• Goal Setting: Assist families in becoming active partners in their and their child’s development by helping them set and achieve short and long-term goals.
• Advocacy: Act as a liaison between families, Penquis staff, and community agencies, advocating for clients and ensuring access to necessary resources.
• Community Collaboration: Develop and maintain strong community partnerships by participating in committees that promote healthy families.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field. Penquis Child Development offers support for obtaining appropriate credentials or continued educational opportunities.
• Experience: 1-2 years in a social service-based program working with children and families, with experience addressing parenting challenges and knowledge of resources for low-income individuals.
• Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer use, including word processing.
• Requirements: Compliance with Penquis background check requirements upon hire and periodically thereafter, with satisfactory results as outlined in current contract provisions.
