Rapid Rehousing Life Coach

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Rapid Rehousing Life Coach to help secure and stabilize housing for families experiencing homelessness or housing instability. This short-term housing intervention aims to quickly move families into permanent housing. Services include housing search support, landlord liaison activities, financial coaching, and housing counseling. This role collaborates closely with the Housing Program Manager to implement housing and employment strategies linking case management and employment services, with the goal of achieving living-wage employment and housing stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Systems Navigation/Assessments:
  • Conduct thorough family assessments using screening, intake, and placement of emergency housing families as assigned.
  • Work with families to set goals and objectives around obtaining and maintaining employment.
  • Partner with YWCA Employment Services staff to create a family development plan.
  • Meet weekly with assigned families to coordinate service delivery, aid in overcoming barriers to housing, assist in navigating the social service system, and evaluate progress in meeting goals.
  • Provide advocacy, information, and referrals in response to needs expressed by the family.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of community resources.
  • Collaborate with other YWCA programs to provide comprehensive services to meet families’ needs.
  • Act as a liaison between mainstream/non-culturally specific service providers and families.
• Housing Search and Placement:
  • Assist families in locating and securing affordable housing.
  • Develop relationships with landlords and property managers to facilitate housing placements.
  • Negotiate lease terms and move-in arrangements on behalf of families.
• Financial Coaching:
  • Provide guidance on budgeting, credit repair, and financial planning to promote long-term housing stability.
  • Assist families in accessing financial assistance programs and resources.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.
  • Prepare reports on client progress and program outcomes as required.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
• Experience:
  • Experience in housing services, case management, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of housing resources and services in the Seattle area.
• Skills:
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment: Passion for social justice and understanding of how racism, sexism, classism, and other oppressions play out in institutions and systems.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $26.50 per hour.
• Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week).
