Life Skills Coach - King House (PT)

Holy Cross Services Inc. is dedicated to providing support and guidance to youth in our Independent Living Program (ILP), fostering their development into self-sufficient and responsible individuals.

Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Life Skills Coach to join our team at King House. In this role, you will provide life skills instruction to youth through one-on-one interactions, classroom settings, and community activities, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills for independent living.

Key Responsibilities

• Life Skills Instruction: Deliver a minimum of four hours per week of life skills training to each youth, with at least 75% being practical, hands-on instruction and 10% conducted in community settings.
• Community Engagement: Identify and utilize community resources to enhance life skill development for youth in the ILP.
• Meetings and Facilitation: Attend family team meetings, facilitate house meetings, and lead life skills curriculum groups.
• Case Management: Maintain a caseload of up to 10 youth, assisting them in progressing toward goals outlined in their Individualized Living Plans (ILP) and case service plans.
• Documentation: Complete daily logs, weekly ILP curriculum reports, pre/post-tests, and follow-up assessments at three and six months post-discharge.
• Collaboration: Work with host home providers and participate in team meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Program Implementation: Apply Mi-TEAM practices in daily activities, including teaming, engagement, assessment, and mentoring.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Minimum of an associate degree in a human services field or at least 60 semester hours (or 95 quarter hours) toward a human services degree.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a human services field or a minimum of 90 semester hours in a human services field with one year of directly related experience; or 60 semester hours with two years of directly related experience.
• Experience: Experience working with youth in a supportive or educational capacity is preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate youth.
  • Proficiency in organizing and facilitating group activities.
• Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts at the ILP supportive housing program.
